Today I started working at a camp. The camp is simply a hogwon with activities and I don't have to yell at the kids to speak in English. It is just a temporary job, but it felt good to had an all day agenda. It almost felt like I was back in Korea today... teaching the kids, eating kongnamul and dubu (be sprouts and tofu), taking a walk in the park, and then taking an awesome Taekwondo class in the evening.
The Taekwondo class at Eagles Taekwondo in Flushing (Queens, NY) was much different than in Korea. However, I felt like I was well prepared to jump right into the class. The conditioning was much more intense, and I am hoping that it will help me get back in to shape. The Quanjangnim (Master) is a nice guy. Master Andrew is very upbeat and I think pretty talented in Taekwondo. He did not teach the class tonight, so I will have to wait until Thursday to see how things go. I think this week I will also catch up with som interjections about my past in Korea.
I keep thinking it's too bad I didn't start this blog while I was traveling, but honestly I'm not the kind of person who would have stayed on top of it to update things while I was there. I feel like I'm in a better frame of mind to keep something like this going right now.

This photo is in Jeonnam Damyeong near Namwon, South Korea. In Korea, things are more simple and more complicated at the same time. They are more simple because of the underlying concepts of the culture... Respect your elders at all times, you have what you need and share what you have, be proud of what you are given. There are cerntainly ways to contradict all of these statements, but for now... this will do.

Welcome to my blog site! This will be a place or random thoughts are pictures for now, and I will hopefully develope a more central theme and or concept over time. Be patient as I learn how to do this. I will make postings and maybe tell stories of travels or old memories. I am open to suggestions.
